Winery Tours Walla Walla has been in business since 2008 providing customized wine tours to hundreds of guests from near and far. The first winery established in Walla Walla was Leonetti Cellars in 1977 and now the region hosts approximately 130 wineries! That is a lot of wine touring and tasting to do!
The Walla Wally Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA) was established in 1984 and is well known for Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Yet, a number of other varietals are grown in the area. Wineries also source grapes from other parts of the state, as our summers are too hot for certain varietals such as Chardonnay.
Take a wine tour with a well established business with knowledgeable drivers.
During the last week of May, Walla Walla was granted by the State to move into Phase Two of re-opening with certain stipulations to follow, especially for the food and beverage industry. Since mid-March wineries have been closed to the public due to COVID-19 and Governor Inslee's "stay at home guidelines." They have offered curbside pick-up and shipping specials along with a few of them hosting virtual tastings with the winemaker or partnering with a restaurant to pair wines with the menu for the night.
Now that Walla Walla is in Phase Two of the re-opening wineries are opening their doors again as well as local restaurants. .Based on emails we have received from wineries, there are a few common guidelines that are being instituted and others that apply to particular wineries. Please understand that they are taking various tasting room precautions for their safety and for your safety.
As of now, this is what we have gleaned from these emails and the states Phase Two guidelines. Wineries are shifting to:
As for Winery Tours Walla Walla, we will arrange for all appointments based on your questionnaire. As a result of appointment only, we may not be able to get you in to as many wineries as would would like, or achieve appointments at requested wineries based on availability.
When Winery Tours Walla Walla re-opens we will also be taking COVID-19 precautions, especially since you can not social distance in a car. We ask for your understanding and cooperation.
We will limit the number of passengers to five based on the largest group wineries will allow.. The drivers will wear masks, and all passengers while in the car must wear a mask. The driver may or may not be able to join you in the tasting room depending on the number of people allowed into the winery and in your group. After each tour is completed, the cars will be sanitized on the inside and washed on the outside before the next scheduled tour. We no longer will be offering lunch since tastings most likely will be limited to an hour.
Please come prepared to your tour with a mask and we recommend you bring hand sanitizer as well. We are taking these measures for our safety and for yours.
We are slowly updating our website to reflect changes in wineries as well as restaurants as COVID-19 has taken its toll on some local establishments.
